Danette Warren

Executive Director

Danette Warren is the Executive Director of Dolce Music Academy, home of Dolce Strings and Dolce Babies, where she teaches violin, viola and Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE) classes and also co-directs the Dolce Strings Touring Ensemble. She is an SAA Registered SECE Teacher Trainer. As one of the teachers who taught SECE classes at the 16th World Convention in Japan, she also had the privilege of speaking and presenting the SECE curriculum in depth. A sought-after clinician at institutes, workshops, festivals and schools, she has been teaching for over 44 years, and has held positions such as President of the Houston Area Suzuki Strings Association (now Southeast Texas Suzuki Association), and state board member of Texas Music Teachers Association. She has received the Houston Music Teachers Association President’s “Bravo” award and was also awarded “Teacher of the Year”. She has been published in the American Suzuki Journal, contributed a video to Parents and Partners Online, and has presented at numerous SAA Conferences and Leadership Retreats. She is currently the SECE Coordinator for the 2018 SAA Conference. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree with honors from Indiana University, where she studied violin with Tadeusz Wronski and Josef Gingold. She has had the great privilege of studying SECE with the creators of the curriculum, Dorothy Jones and Sharon Jones. Mrs. Schuh also performs as a freelance violinist and violist in the greater Houston area.

Terri Matchett

Cello and SECE Instructor

Teresa L. Matchett earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston, graduating cum laude in cello performance. Her cello studies were with Martha Gerschefski and Hans Jensen, and she did graduate work with Anthony Elliott. She has recently taken additional Suzuki training and cello with Tanya Carey. Her performing positions have included principal cello of the Lake Charles Symphony and assistant principal cello of the Theater Under the Stars orchestra. She was the president of the Houston Area Suzuki Strings Association (now called STXSA), and works actively to organize events for young musicians. She teaches students of all ages starting as young as 3 years old, and her older students are regularly chosen as members of the Texas Junior High and High School (region 9) Region Orchestras, as well as the Texas All State Orchestras. Teresa has completed all of her Suzuki training for cello through level 10, as well as Suzuki Principles in Action, and the Cello Practicum. She also teaches Suzuki Early Childhood Education, and Music Mind Games (music theory for children).

Priscila Cardenas

SECE Teacher

Priscila Cardenas, a native of Huntsville, Texas, is a Suzuki Academy Alumni and a Suzuki Early Childhood Education Teacher. She teaches Dolce Babies family music classes at Dolce Music Academy in Sugar Land, Texas. She was homeschooled throughout her childhood where her environment was filled with music; she grew up listening and watching her family play live music and sing together in church and in family gatherings. After her older siblings began taking piano lessons, they introduced her to music theory and sight-reading. She continued to practice and learn new pieces until years later as an adult she was hired to work at the Suzuki Music Academy in north Houston where she enrolled as a piano student. She worked and studied at the Suzuki Music Academy for six years, both organizing and participating in piano recitals, Suzuki graduations, group lessons, and music festivals. She graduated Suzuki piano books 1-5 with Ms. Mila Dunaeva. Immersed in the musical world of Suzuki, she took the Every Child Can! and Suzuki Early Childhood Education Stage 1 with Director of Dolce Music Academy and Teacher Trainer, Danette Warren. She has been involved with Dolce Music Academy since 2018.

Meredith Bryant

SECE Teacher Assistant

Meredith Bryant is a professional cellist and teacher. She is a Dolce Music Academy SECE teaching assistant, currently pursuing her Suzuki training, beginning with Suzuki Early Childhood Education. She studied cello with Christopher Adkins at Southern Methodist University where she completed a Bachelor of Music Degree in Cello Performance. She also has a Master of Music degree in Cello Performance from DePaul University. She performs frequently as a freelance cellist and has been playing with the Symphony of Southeast Texas in Beaumont since 2008. She and her husband, Carson, live in Sugar Land with their twins, Owen and Lillian, who are looking forward to beginning middle school next year.
